Luciana Colombo
Luciana’s research focuses on the literary grotesque in the global Souths of the Americas as a vehicle for representing counter-cultures and rural economies. Building on her Master’s thesis at New York University, “William Faulkner and la Literatura Bruta in As I Lay Dying and Light in August,” her current work examines the grotesque imagery and narrative devices of the 20th and 21st-century Souths, exploring their conditions of existence, circulation, and reproduction.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Letters from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), where she continues to serve as a graduate researcher in the Department of American Literature. Her publications include chapters in El sueño americano y sus pesadillas: Incursiones críticas en un gran mito estadounidense (Miño y Dávila, 2022) and Literatura Norteamericana de Entreguerras, Vols. I and II (2023, 2024), focusing on the Southern Gothic and the grotesque. A former Fulbright Fellow (2024–2025) who completed her M.A. in English and American Literature at NYU, Luciana has taught literature and language across middle school, high school, and university levels. Additionally, she served as the Program and Content Coordinator for the New York International Book Fair (CUNY - MSI).
